Our story
An apothecary, the way the word used to mean it.
Before pharmacies became fluorescent aisles with a counter in the back, an apothecary was a person in your town who made your medicine and knew your family. That's the business we run.
Gulf Breeze Apothecary is part of the Mac's Pharmacy family, a group of independent pharmacies founded by Mac Wilhoit in 1989 on a simple idea: a pharmacy should feel like it belongs to the town it's in. Our shop sits in Live Oak Village on Gulf Breeze Parkway, five minutes from the beach and squarely in the middle of the community it serves.
The compounding lab is a core part of our pharmacy. Cindy and the lab team prepare custom formulations every day: flavored liquids for kids, hormone therapies dosed to a patient's labs, topical pain creams, veterinary preparations, and the hard-to-find therapies that chains simply can't make.
The retail side works the way you wish every pharmacy did. Someone answers the phone. The drive-up window is actually fast. Delivery is free on the local route. And when insurance does something baffling, we sit down and figure it out with you.
